About

I grew up beneath Oklahoma skies, where beauty and danger often exist in the same breath. There's something extraordinary about a landscape that can be peaceful one moment and unimaginably powerful the next. That contrast has always fascinated me, and it continues to influence the way I see and interpret the world..

I'm Madelyn Teague, an Oklahoma born artist and citizen of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. Working primarily in oils, my art explores the beauty, history, and complexity of the world around us. My subjects range from severe weather and dramatic landscapes to Western Americana, Oklahoma history, Indigenous culture and heritage, and the wonders of the natural world.

Before pursuing oil painting, I spent a decade working as an award-winning fine art portrait photographer and educator. That experience shaped my understanding of light, composition, atmosphere, and visual storytelling elements that remain central to my work today.

My artistic approach is rooted in observation, curiosity, and a fascination with the emotional power of the natural world. I'm drawn to dramatic light, atmospheric movement, and the delicate relationship between realism and romanticism. I don't simply want to document what a place looks like. I want to capture what it feels like to experience it.

Beyond the studio, I'm an endlessly curious person who finds inspiration in travel, science, history, and exploration. Whether I'm studying the landscape, wandering through a museum, or discovering something new about the world, that curiosity inevitably finds its way into my art.

Above all, I create because I believe there's something remarkable worth noticing everywhere we look.
